One year after the wave of violence that broke out against Christians in the Indian State Orissa, thousands of people are still missing: according to some surveys, 30.000 people sought refuge in the forest or abroad, in fear of the atrocities perpetrated by Hindutva fanatics. Other incidents of violence have broken out all over the country, labelled as communal violences, violences between ethnic groups. Even the Maoist groups (naxaliti) take part to these fights: Above all, they have claimed responsibility for the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, Hindu extremist leader, who had incited the violence against Christians. They also participate in the revolt for the land.
